Overview

Summary of dataset and variables

This table shows the reason for children aged 16 years and over ceasing to be looked after by gender. It excludes children looked after exclusively under a series of short breaks, children who died or where care was taken over by another local authority in the UK. Where a child had multiple periods of care during the year only the last period is counted.

Data collection or calculation

Anonymised individual child level data is extracted from local authority administrative systems and returned electronically to the Data Collection team within the Welsh Government using an online secure data transfer system called 'Objective Connect'. Welsh Government analysts then apply an extensive series of validation checks to ensure that the information provided uses the correct codes and is internally consistent.

Statistical quality

Rounding applied

Figures have been disclosure controlled by rounding to the nearest 5. Counts less than 5 have been suppressed and are denoted by 'c'.
